Rising nearly 6,000 feet above sea level, Grandfather Mountain stands as the tallest summit on the eastern part of the Blue Ridge Mountains. If you’ve visited this stunning state park before, you’re undoubtedly looking forward to returning.
A lot of mountain towns have faced difficulties since
Hurricane Helene
However, Landis Taylor, the Vice President of Marketing and Communications at the Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation, states that Grandfather Mountain is prepared for your visit.
“Helene presented a significant challenge for our community, but everyone rallied together. Now, we’re completely prepared and truly require those visitors to return,” Taylor stated.
During this summer and fall, the foundation will be hosting
workshops
, adult field courses along with a “Grandfather Presents” lecture series. Actually, our own Chief Meteorologist
Brad Panovich
will be part of a post-Helena
panel
in September.
Taylor mentions it’s her favorite season due to its beauty. Additionally, she notes that the colder temperatures are quite welcome since Grandfather Mountain tends to be about 20 degrees cooler than Charlotte during this part of summer.
Taylor also mentions that the Blue Ridge Parkway — which serves as the primary route connecting Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mountain — is accessible for traveling.
If you choose to visit Grandfather Mountain in the near future, kindly make sure to appreciate the natural surroundings and ensure not to discard any litter or objects.
