as a flight attendant
For four distinct airlines, a total of 120 complimentary trips were reserved across a span of six years.
According to a
press release
The U.S. Attorney from the Southern District of Florida reports that 35-year-old Tiron Alexander impersonated a flight attendant across several major airlines from 2018 through 2024. During this time, he gained access to airline websites meant exclusively for staff members, thereby reserving complimentary flights by leveraging these employee privileges.
On June 5, Alexander was found guilty of wire fraud and falsely gaining access to a secured area at an airport. The legal papers mention several airlines including Southwest Airlines, American Airlines, and Delta Air Lines.
Alexander boarded 34 flights for free by posing as a crew member on one airline, utilizing 30 distinct identification codes and employment start dates. Additionally, he falsely presented himself as a flight attendant for three other carriers to secure even more complimentary trips.
Alexander is scheduled to be sentenced August 25. The maximum sentence for wire fraud is 20 years and 10 years for the charge of entering secure airport areas under false pretenses.
