Several sections of the light-up pavement of World Celebration in EPCOT are now surrounded by stanchions due to a tripping hazard.
This part of World Celebration has seen more than its share of glitches. Barely a day after the garden area launched, the
lighting elements stopped working.

By the summer of 2024. In mid-November, all the streetlights were switched off entirely.
Even though fully restored and functional
as of December
Several sections of the in-ground lighting have been cordoned off as they’ve become loose and risen from the surface.
Within this particular segment of the sidewalk, two sections are rising off the ground. One is situated near the planter, whereas the other stands prominently in a busy zone, posing a risk for guests who might stumble and possibly get injured as they step over it.
Along the other side, a full semi-circle has been roped off, protecting guests from several areas of broken lighting.
Gaps in the caulking surrounding the pieces of lighting and chipping of the pavement are likely contributing to the lifting. As shown in the two photos above, there are several areas where this issue is present.
The lighting forms the EPCOT logo around the main planter at World Celebration Gardens, designed to synchronize with
Spaceship Earth shows.
We are unsure whether the damaged sections will affect nighttime illumination or if they will be shut down entirely for repairs.
