PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) — If you frequently travel down Front Beach Road at the western edge of Panama City Beach, you might welcome the news that work in this zone will wrap up within two months.
The third phase of the Front Beach Road construction project is nearing completion. Within one week, the last layer of asphalt will be laid down between Highway 79 and the roundabout located on South Arnold Road.
According to the City’s Public Works director, Segment 3 is anticipated to require an investment of approximately $30 million for completion, with these funds being sourced from the Community Redevelopment Agency.
This project includes widening of lanes, pedestrian pathways, bike lanes, and more. “This is going to follow a lot of the same that the other previous segments like segment two, down near Thomas Drive, where you have the bus travel with the bike lane and the travel-through lanes, having that multimodal transportation option with the pedestrians, the bicyclists, the buses, and the cars, should definitely help alleviate traffic,” said John Adair, Public Works Director for the City of Panama City Beach.
The third segment of the Front Beach Construction project is anticipated to wrap up by next August. According to Public Works authorities, once this phase concludes, their focus will shift to the eastern part of the city.
