Spirit Airlines plans to introduce new direct flights between
Atlantic City Airport
and Miami International Airport beginning in mid-August.
Leaders from the South Jersey Transportation Authority (SJTA), who manage both the ownership and operation of Atlantic City Airport (ACY), disclosed that these four-days-per-week seasonal routes will commence on August 13th.
Our team has collaborated extensively with Spirit Airlines over the past few months to introduce this new service to our visitors,” stated Stephen F. Dougherty, SJTA Executive Director. “Given Miami’s compatibility with ACY, this direct flight option will offer passengers increased convenience.
The updated seasonal path will run on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
“Our new direct flights to Miami provide ACY passengers with an additional choice for reaching Florida, complementing our current nonstop services to Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando, and Palm Beach,” stated John Kirby, Vice President of Network Planning at Spirit Airlines, in a press release.
Spirit has expanded its routes for the third time this month with the introduction of a new direct flight service. This follows their recent announcements about extra non-stop journeys from Chattanooga, Tennessee (announced June 4) and Columbia, South Carolina (announced June 5), connecting these cities directly to three destinations including Newark Liberty Airport.
In May, Dennis Levinson, who was the Atlantic County Executive at the time, proposed to the airline companies

Since April 28, the FAA has decreased flight operations at Newark.
The two biggest airlines running out of the Egg Harbor Township airport are Spirit and American Airlines.
“We’re delighted about the expansion and can’t wait to join Spirit and the community in celebration as the launch date draws near,” Dougherty stated.
