Rochester, NY – The inaugural pickleball courts for the city have been inaugurated at Maplewood Park.
The city officials transformed two of the existing tennis courts in the park into six new pickleball courts.
They will become accessible to the public on a first-come, first-served basis during the operating hours of the park.
Pickleball is among the quickest expanding sports across the country, which is why I’m thrilled to witness the City of Rochester offering chances for both locals and tourists to engage in this rapidly gaining popularity, enjoyable, and dynamic activity,” stated Mayor Malik Evans in a release. “Updating and adapting our recreational spaces to match changing preferences plays a crucial role in our commitment to enhancing the exceptional living standards in Rochester.
The courthouses can be found in “Middle Maplewood,” situated among Riverside Street, Park View Street, and Maplewood Drive.
The city is also approaching the final stages of constructing new pickleball courts at Farmington Park on Merchants Road, and intends to repaint certain current tennis courts so they can be used for both pickleball and tennis activities.
