Places to appreciate nature’s waters

One delightful aspect of this part of Alabama is its abundant natural waterways. It earns the nickname “River Region” quite fittingly. You can wade into the calm waters of Autauga Creek via the downtown Prattville Creekwalk, or perhaps try some kayaking. Enjoy leisurely boat tours along the Alabama River. The area offers numerous opportunities for boating, fishing, as well as beach visits and swimming near Lake Jordan and Lake Martin (visit Wind Creek State Park in Alexander City or D.A.R.E. Power Park in Jackson’s Gap).

Find accommodation that includes a swimming pool.

Many hotels in the River Region feature swimming pools for guests looking to escape from their daily routine. If lounging at the pool is what you’re after, be sure to contact them beforehand to confirm that they indeed offer this amenity and that it’s accessible during your stay.
