A long-standing gay nightclub in Portland declared on Sunday that it will shut down permanently come August.
CC Slaughters aims to officially declare its intention to shut down our venue starting from August 3rd, 2025,
saw a message on the club’s Facebook page, shared on Sunday afternoon.
“CC Slaughters has served as an iconic haven for queer nightlife for more than 44 years in Portland, Oregon,” stated the post.
The posting didn’t provide any explanation for the shutdown, and attempts to reach out for comments from the establishment were not promptly successful.
CC Slaughters, situated in Old Town at 219 N.W. Davis Street, stands as one of the more established LGBTQ+ venues in town.
Another long-standing gay club called Embers shut down in 2017.
This isn’t the first time CC Slaughters has declared closure. Back in October 2020, they made a similar announcement.

The message stated, “Sadly, 2020 has posed significant challenges for local enterprises across the board, and we’re not exempt from these tough circumstances. While we aspire to welcome you back into our space (which feels like home) at some point down the line, stay vigilant, maintain social distance, and prioritize your well-being in the meantime.”
And the doors opened once more in April of 2021.
