SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) — On Sunday, which marks National Cancer Survivors Day, Avera Health will be recognizing individuals who have survived cancer as well as their families in Sioux Falls.
Approximately 500 individuals participated in the health system’s gathering at the Prairie Center located on Avera’s principal site, featuring a picnic along with presentations from special guests.
For Dan and Ellie Berg, who are cancer survivors from Dell Rapids, this event highlighted the importance of support for individuals battling cancer and reassured them that they aren’t facing it alone.
“Everyone needs someone to support them during difficult times, as those times are plentiful,” Ellie Berg stated.
And these kinds of events also provide great support for everyone involved,” Dan Berg mentioned. “They make sure that nobody feels they’re facing things alone.
The funds gathered from the Avera Race Against Cancer supported organizing this event.
