Delta Flight Delayed: Pigeon Passengers Cause Chaos From Minneapolis to Madison

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV/CNN) – Two unexpected stowaways created chaos at an airport prior to a flight traveling from Minneapolis to Madison during the weekend. They flew about inside the plane before the actual departure.

Two seemingly feral pigeons were aboard Delta Air Lines Flight 2348, causing a delay on Saturday. The aircraft carried 119 passengers and five crew members.

According to
reporting from CNN,
A traveler informed a flight attendant that they believed there was a pigeon onboard the aircraft. Soon afterward, passenger Tom Caw reported hearing some disturbance, which led to baggage handlers being summoned to take the bird off the plane.

The pilot used the intercom to inform everybody about “a wildlife issue onboard,” according to Caw. Once the aircraft had departed from the gate and was getting ready for takeoff, an additional bird showed up.

It was parading down the aisle,” Caw stated, then someone attempted to catch it, causing the bird to take flight. “It was fluttering back and forth inside the cabin.

The video uploaded by passenger Anna Trull depicted individuals applauding and expressing gratitude towards a baggage handler for successfully removing the second pigeon.

I’m not quite sure how to respond; this is really something,” the pilot stated via the intercom. “When we were returning after landing, I informed the control tower about the pigeon incident. They mentioned that it was a new experience for them, so I replied ‘it’s my second time encountering this.’ The initial occurrence happened roughly thirty minutes earlier.

Delta told CNN, “We appreciate the diligent efforts of both our staff and passengers who helped in safely removing two birds from the plane before takeoff. We regret the inconvenience this caused to our travelers due to the delayed departure.”

CNN reported that the flight landed in Madison approximately one hour after its expected time.
