Avon-on-the-Lake Garden Club Reopens Book Nook

The Avon-on-the-Lake Garden Club has reinstated its Miniature Gardening Library at Miller Road Park, located at 33760 Lake Road in Avon Lake.

The Small Gardens Library was constructed in 2020 by former President Elaine George.

The presidents of Avon-on-the-Lake are required to present a project aligned with a selected theme.

George’s theme was “Embrace Our Vision.”

The Small Gardens Book Box remains available throughout spring and extends into autumn. George mentioned that this year’s selections will concentrate on indigenous flora. (Submitted)

“The book box felt like a natural progression for us,” she stated.

The house for books was constructed and colored by George along with members of the Avon-on-the-Lake Garden Club.

The box contains free gardening books you can borrow as well as some goodies inside.

Every gift bag includes a packet of flower seeds and a packet of vegetable seeds to inspire individuals to begin their own gardening journey,” George explained. “They sell out incredibly fast.

The Avon-on-the-Lake Garden Club takes care of 10 gardens across Avon Lake.

George mentioned that tending to the garden is just one of the numerous methods through which the club engages with the local community.

It’s a collective endeavor to transform the local properties into their best possible aesthetic, satisfying everyone’s desire to cultivate,” she stated. “The book box serves as one of our links within this community.

The Small Gardening Subscription Box remains available throughout spring and extends into autumn.

George mentioned that this year’s books will center around native flora.

We’re keen on cultivating indigenous flora since these species help sustain our local pollinator populations,” she explained. “Our aim is for individuals to recognize the importance of growing plants that bolster their nearby ecosystems and wildlife.

The Avon-on-the-Lake Garden Club is welcoming contributions for the bookhouse and looking for new members.
