Approximately 5,000 individuals are anticipated to participate in the pilgrimage organized by Saint Tikhon’s Monastery located in South Canaan Township close to Waymart.
They aim to commemorate the 100th year since the passing of Saint Tikhon of Moscow and others who have served our nation. Additionally, they plan to host the veneration of the Hawaiian Iveron Icon of the Virgin Mary.
A representative from the monastery stated that St. Tikhon’s Monastery continues to serve as a significant historical hub for Orthodox Christians, being both the inaugural and eldest Orthodox monastery in the country.
“A century and twenty years ago, we embarked on this journey, starting with an inaugural pilgrimage led by our founder, Saint Tikhon of Moscow. This endeavor invited everyone from the vicinity to join us in commemorating not just those who sacrificed their lives defending their nation, but also honoring all individuals who have visited and stayed at Saint Tikhon’s monastery,” stated Father Sergius Bowyer, St. Tikhon’s Monastery.
The pilgrimage occurs between May 23rd and 26th.
