At Union Point Park in New Bern, the scene was filled with family-oriented fun today during the yearly Playday at the Point event. This gathering, which serves as a modernized edition of the former Festival of Fun, sought to offer an enhanced entertainment opportunity for kids, city representatives stated.
The park buzzed with activity including a foam party, arts and crafts booths, and an array of food stalls. According to organizers, this event provides families with an enjoyable and cost-free means to celebrate Memorial Day weekend.
Kari Warren, who leads the City of New Bern’s Parks and Recreation department, highlighted how accessible the event is. She stated, “Everyone wants to enjoy themselves with some activities, but not everyone has the opportunity to travel for a weekend getaway. Therefore, it’s great to offer something right here in downtown that’s free for all, plus encouraging children to spend time outdoors at the park.”
The venue featured a rock-climbing wall alongside a bounce house, catering to individuals of every age group. Participants could additionally engage in making bracelets or cultivating their own plants, thereby enhancing the variety of offered activities.
