Connecticut
State parks, beaches, tourist spots, and various summertime destinations are starting to come alive with activity.

On Friday, the state published an announcement emphasizing the wide array of leisure pursuits accessible to both Connecticut locals and visitors from elsewhere. The state indicated that the season for summer tourist activities had commenced.

Summertime in Connecticut offers fantastic opportunities for enjoying the outdoors,” Governor Ned Lamont stated. “Our state’s tourism has seen growth recently because more individuals are discovering and experiencing the wide range of attractions that Connecticut provides.

Lamont pointed out that regardless of whether an individual has spent their whole life in Connecticut or is exploring the state for the first time, there is a place where everyone with various hobbies can find enjoyment.

Tourism in Connecticut constitutes a $18.5 billion business and sustains approximately 125,000 local employment opportunities. During 2023, the state saw over 68 million visitors, marking a 2% increase compared to the prior year.

Whether you’re interested in exploring museums, dining at high-quality eateries, or visiting natural attractions, Connecticut offers a wide range of experiences during the summertime. Additionally, with significant commercial airports located in New Haven and Windsor Locks, getting into and around the state becomes quite convenient.

“Whether you’re fleeing from New York City or Boston, or simply looking for an easily reachable getaway, Connecticut combines a variety of attractions, cultural experiences, and culinary delights, providing something for everyone,” stated Anthony Anthony, who serves as the state’s top marketing official.

Anthony suggests that Connecticut offers more enjoyment per square mile compared to many larger states, which could explain why it has experienced a 2.3% increase in occupancy rates this year-over-year. This growth apparently outpaces neighboring regions.

Commissioner Katie Dykes from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection stated that actions are being taken to enhance accessibility at the parks like never before.

Government funds are being utilized to enhance roadways, restrooms, power systems, campgrounds, boat ramps, and various locations so as to guarantee these parks remain accessible well into the future.

And once more this summer, guests entering our stunning state parks in Connecticut with registered vehicles will not be charged for parking due to the Passport to the Parks initiative,” Dykes stated. “This makes it simpler than ever before to enjoy your time at these parks, and we wish everyone a joyful and secure summer experience.

To ensure accessibility for individuals with disabilities, the state has initiated its All-Terrain Wheelchair Program, making the parks easier to navigate.

In the end, the state mentions that Lamont has allocated more than $70 million for repairing and enhancing facilities within the state park system. These funds will be used for fixing picnic shelters, upgrading restrooms, improving campgrounds, expanding boat launches, and additional enhancements.
