Rescue Teams Save Two After Canoe Accident in Orrington

On Thursday evening, two individuals were saved from the water after they fell out of a canoe into the Sedgeunkedunk Stream in Orrington, according to authorities.

Emergency responders were dispatched to Brewer Lake Road around 4:45 p.m. after receiving word that both people had fallen into the water but managed to reach dry ground and were shivering from the cold. They found themselves stranded on a tiny island in the river and couldn’t get back to safety.

The Brewer Fire team launched a boat and managed to rescue the two individuals shortly before 5:30 p.m. They were assessed by EMS on-site and then allowed to leave.

“We appreciate our mutual aid collaborators for their prompt reaction and support during this call,” stated the Orrington Fire & Rescue in a Facebook post.
