13 Epic Campgrounds to Explore in the Stateline This Summer

Camping with your children is an excellent opportunity to create cherished memories together! Pick from among these picturesque campgrounds located around the Stateline area; pack those sleeping bags, fill up the vehicle, and prepare for delightful evenings enjoying s’mores. Below are ten campsite options available in Loves Park, Rockford, Rockton, South Beloit, Beloit, Byron, Pecatonica, and Durand where you can sleep beneath the night sky.

Rock Cut State Park Camping Ground

7318 Harlem Road, Loves Park, Illinois


Open from April 1 to October 31

Rock Cut State Park provides numerous camping sites, a cabin rental option, and various recreational activities throughout the year. Additionally, the park features two lakes.

One for swimming (Olson Lake)

And another option for activities like fishing, hiking trails, playgrounds, and much more.

Blackhawk Valley Campground

6540 Vallejo Road, Rockford, Illinois


Open from April 15 to October 15

The check-in time is at noon and the checkout time is by 11 in the morning.

Situated along the Kishwaukee River, this campsite offers mini-golf facilities, pedal car rentals, a play area for children, weekend events, and hayrides during holidays.

The nightly rate covers two adults along with up to four dependent children who are younger than 21 years old within one unit or tent. An extra charge of $2 per person applies for anyone above this number. Additionally, individuals under 21 must have their parents accompany them.

1 unit at each location / 2 vehicles at each spot / 2 pets at every site

No kid tents allowed

No motorcycle traffic

$5 each for an early check-in or late check-out.

Everyone staying at the campground or visiting needs to sign up at the office.

A three-night minimum stay is required during holidays, including a one-night charge for securing the spot.

Hononegah Campground

Open Mid-April through Mid-November

Arrival check-in by 10 pm, departure check-out by 3 pm

Situated within a forest preserve, Hononegah Campground boasts an extensive history along with numerous camping sites, particularly in a maple grove area. Additionally, the campground features a boat launching facility for access to the Rock River, horseshoe pits, and a playground on-site.

At Hononegah campsites operate on a first-come, first-served basis. You can register either with the campground host or through the self-registration station. Please be aware that only cash and checks are accepted as payment methods.

Rivers Edge Campground

12626 North Meridian Road, Rockton, Illinois


Open from April 15 to October 15

At Rivers Edge Campground, you have the option to pitch your tent or park your RV right beside the riverbank.

No tents are allowed.

Pearl Lake Campground

The period runs from May 1 to October 15.

Registration will take place from 12:00 pm until 10:00 pm.

The Pearl Lake Campground offers a serene environment surrounded by numerous large trees and features an artificial lake within easy walking distance. For those who prefer indoor accommodations, you may opt to lease a park model cabin (featuring one bedroom equipped with a queen-sized bed and a pull-out sleeper sofa), which costs approximately $175 nightly, subject to a two-night stay requirement.
