What to Do and Know This Mother’s Day Weekend at Delaware Beaches

The Mother’s Day holiday falls over this weekend at the Delaware coast.

The calendars for all weekends in May at the beaches are completely booked, offering ample activities.

No matter what happens, make sure not to overlook Mom. We’ve got several recommendations for her listed below.

If you’re planning to visit Lewes, Rehoboth Beach, Dewey Beach, Bethany Beach, or Fenwick Island over the weekend from May 9th to May 11th, here’s what you should keep in mind and what actions you might want to take.

Dewey’s Golden Jubilee

Every second weekend in May, Golden Retrievers seize control of Dewey Beach.

On May 9, they march through Rehoboth under the cover of darkness, then converge on the sands at Dewey Beach on May 10. They reconvene on the shore afterward for a bonfire. This event offers an excellent opportunity for both dogs and their owners to mingle and have fun. Drop by!

What to know

Last week, Rehoboth Beach
had a few incidents
Large groups of young individuals were involved. After an event, significant amounts of trash were abandoned along the shore, and a scuffle erupted within a big gathering on Rehoboth Avenue. As such, law enforcement is expected to be closely monitoring the situation this coming weekend.

Rehoboth Beach does not currently enforce a curfew, whereas Dewey Beach and Bethany Beach impose an 11 PM curfew for individuals under the age of 18.

If you approach from the north, there’s a revised traffic flow on Coastal Highway (Route 1) where it intersects with Route 16 in Milton. Cars traveling southbound can now utilize the recently finished overpass and avoid stopping at the signal.

Demonstrations against the Trump presidency
Continue along the Coastal Highway in Rehoboth Beach every Saturday morning. The exact spot may change, so keep an eye out and be ready to reduce your speed as needed.
