U.S. and Qantas Boost Transpacific Flight Options

have teamed up to offer new travel possibilities between the U.S. and Australia.

On Monday, both U.S. and Australian airlines declared that American Airlines will initiate three weekly routes linking Los Angeles with Brisbane, Australia, commencing from December 5th.

Furthermore, Qantas plans to increase its service frequency to daily flights between Dallas/Fortworth and Melbourne, Australia, beginning December 3rd.

The new routes will continue until the end of January 2026. Additionally, Qantas plans to commence daily services connecting Dallas/Fort Worth with Sydney, Australia.

The giant airplane will restart operations on this route in August but only on certain days along with the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

In a press statement released by the airline, Steve Johnson, who serves as America’s vice chairman and chief strategy officer, announced their pride in joining forces with Qantas to offer more travel choices for customers heading to Australia.

“Together, we offer the most comprehensive service connecting the United States with Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific,” he said. “For our customers, this means more ways to plan vacations to visit friends and family or jet off for a new adventure in one of the most picturesque regions of the world.”

Tickets for American’s new service between Los Angeles and Brisbane will go on sale starting May 12. This route will be operated by American and Qantas using Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

The weekly schedule for the Boeing 787 Dreamliners flying from Brisbane to Los Angeles includes four trips handled by Qantas and three managed by American Airlines each week.

The statement noted that for this period, Qantas plans to ramp up Boeing 787 services between Melbourne and Dallas to a daily schedule, while its Boeing 787 routes connecting Brisbane and Los Angeles will revert to daily operations starting February 2026.

will discontinue flights between Sydney and Honolulu starting from October 24, 2025. The Boeing 787 Dreamliners currently used for this route will be reassigned to various locations across Asia. Following this change, Qantas plans to maintain a schedule of five to six weekly trips between Sydney and Honolulu.
