— A dinosaur excavation site in St. George has been rescued from imminent demise.
The City of St. George has consented to relocate a new power substation to another parcel within the municipality, thereby safeguarding an archaeological dig site directly opposite the original location.

David Cordero, the communications director for St. George City, states that both the city officials and archaeologists collaborated to find a compromise satisfactory to all parties involved.
“In some cases, there’s a good guy and a bad guy, but to me, there wasn’t in this case,” Cordero said. “It was just two groups of people trying to figure out the best solution, and I think that’s what we came to.”
Before the announcement, volunteers were rushing to the site to excavate as many fossils from the site before construction began.

In 2005, the St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site came into existence and has welcomed more than 900,000 visitors since then. Additionally, it houses the earliest known Jurassic-era dinosaur location in Utah.
