For Restaurants, Cinco de Mayo Is the Big Day

Every Cinco de Mayo, you can rely on large gatherings at the event held at 7011 Airport Highway in Holland, Ohio. This past celebration saw throngs of people enjoying the festivities.

“Oh, this is big. It’s great. Party, but a lot of work,” said Gilberto Vaca, co-owner of this Cinco de Mayo location. The restaurant group has multiple locations across Toledo, all sharing the name Cinco de Mayo.

Vaca has been at this spot for ten years now. Each year, he mentioned that May 5 stands out from all the others.

“All the Mexican eateries, this is their major day. It’s the most significant day of the year for each one of them,” clarified Vaca.

In 2025, since the signing day landed on a Monday, numerous eateries were bustling throughout the weekend. As a result, they brought in additional employees to handle the crowd.

All the Mexican eateries, this marks our major event. This is the most significant day annually for each one,” stated Vaca. “Considering it’s a Monday, I anticipated things might slow down somewhat, but it has remained quite bustling ever since we opened shop. Despite it being nearly nine o’clock, we’re still seeing heavy traffic.

For independently owned eateries, it has become a significant revenue generator, providing a substantial economic uplift on this designated day.
