The Isle of Man’s main route from the south to Douglas will be closed several times over two weeks.
The Department of Infrastructure (DOI) intends to close parts of the A5 road each day between 09:30 and 15:30 BST starting from May 6th.
Reflective centerline pavement markers are being installed.
A representative from the DOI stated that “superfluous” cat’s eyes, “mostly damaged or embedded into the road surface,” will be taken out.
In the initial phase of construction, the road will be shut down from the roundabout located at Glashen Hill all the way to where it meets Orrisdale Road.
Next, the segment from the Blackboards up to the Oatlands Road intersection will be closed.
This will be succeeded by the region extending from Mount Murray to the Fort North Roundabout.
The DOI mentioned that both residents and bus services will be granted special entry permissions.
Detour paths will be open via Old Castletown Road for the second and fourth phases, whereas St Marks Road will be accessible throughout the entire period.
All tasks must be completed by Friday, May 16th.
