Coeur d’Alene Approves Launch of the Fun-Riding ‘Trolley Pub’

A “Trolley Pub” will soon cruise through Coeur d’Alene’s streets following the city council’s unanimous vote on Tuesday to green-light the final stages for introducing this tourist attraction in the downtown region.

The suggested trolley pub operates via pedal power and accommodates up to 16 individuals. Tours begin at the Jeremiah Johnson Brewery location and extend for approximately two hours, meandering through the downtown area of Coeur d’Alene, including several halts en route.

Keenan Johnson, the owner of the trolley pub, says a family-friendly tour will also be offered with a scenic route along the lake. The adult tour for ages 21+ would stop at Crafted Tap House and The Burger Dock.

I spotted one during my weekend getaway. I found the concept quite appealing,” stated Johnson. “Coeur d’Alene seems like an excellent location for this, doesn’t it? There’s a constant influx of visitors throughout the summer, making it perfect for the season… plus, being physically fit isn’t necessary at all. My advice is to opt for sturdy closed-toe footwear that allows easy pedaling. However, as mentioned earlier, pedaling isn’t required since it comes with motor assistance.

According to data provided by Visit Idaho, tourism in North Idaho is on the rise, with figures from 2023 indicating a boost of $417 million in travel expenditure compared to 2020 levels.

“It’s an additional draw that lures more visitors here, another point of interest. Attract people to our town and let them explore all we have to offer,” stated Mark Robitaille from Visit Idaho.

He says the trolley pub is a win-win for local businesses and visitors.

“We’ve seen some various businesses come in, this being one of them, and it is another asset to what we already have. And I think it’s a good attraction, because people are looking for things to do, events and attractions,” said Robitaille.

Coeur d’Alene will see the launch of trolley pub tours starting as early as this week, continuing throughout the entire summer season.
