BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – A year back, the Hermon Recreation Department introduced a new event for seniors to participate in.
It includes the crucial meal of the day along with even more enjoyable companionship.
Every first Monday of the month, the ‘Seniors Breakfast Club’ meets at Chase’s restaurant in Bangar.
There’s plenty of laughing along with a tasty breakfast accompanied by deep conversations.
The program initiated at the Hermon Recreation department aimed to diversify the activities offered to the senior citizens of Hermon.
We were seeking additional ways to engage people,” stated Lindsey Ouellette, who serves as the recreation director for the Town of Hermon. “Throughout each month, we organize various events such as crafting sessions, yoga classes, and gatherings for different birthdays and similar occasions. We considered adding another activity to our monthly lineup and decided that starting with breakfast would be a great idea.
A senior informed WABI that the club has been instrumental in her salvation.
This enables her to leave the house and form new connections.
The gathering highlights the significance of the authentic connection formed in every instant.
One might argue that groups like these smooth out other aspects of life.
“We’ve witnessed many friendships develop over the last few years, and occasionally, even post-breakfast, some continue hanging out,” stated Ouellette.
Ouellette went on to say they’re thankful that Chase’s restaurant creates a space for them each month.
