Family Day
On the second Sunday of each month, mark your calendar for Sunday, May 11th, when the focus will be on activities themed around Big and Small.
Celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AAPI Month) along with Mother’s Day during Mia Family Day! Construct playful shadow puppets and delve into Mia’s Japanese art exhibits guided by Teaching Artist Akiko Ostlund. Assemble and combine an array of illustrations to craft a special Mother’s Day flower arrangement alongside Lora Hlavsa. Delight in storytelling sessions featuring local author Monica Rojas, known for her work as the author of “Stirring Up Justice.”

, and paint your world with Illustrator Emiko Rainbow. Enjoy graceful movements and melodies with the Chinese American Association of Minnesota Chinese Dance Theater! indulge your senses with Yum Yum Food Truck (11 a.m.–1 p.m.).

Every month, your family has the opportunity to participate in a complimentary event at the Minneapolis Institute of Art designed for families, children, and those who remain young at heart. The venue offers an array of engaging experiences including interactive art projects, narrative sessions, live artist presentations, scavenger hunts within the galleries, as well as self-directed explorations—all tailored around the institute’s impressive artistic holdings.
This event occurs on the second Sunday of each month, starting at 10 AM and ending at 5 PM.
The event is complimentary.
