Air Peace Cites Reasons Behind Flight Cancellations

On Saturday, Air Peace stated that it harbors no regrets for canceling or rescheduling flights to guarantee the safety of people in line with aviation safety regulations.

This statement came from the Head of Corporate Communications at Air Peace, Ejike Ndiulo, in Lagos.

Although the airline expressed understanding towards passengers affected by its canceled flights and delays, it stated that these interruptions stemmed from safety concerns.

If weather conditions, technical specifications, or operational criteria do not meet safety standards, flights will be canceled.

It is not within our policies to postpone or annul flights unnecessarily, and whenever we have to make such decisions, we frequently suffer significant financial losses.

“We will never compromise safety for the sake of convenience, comfort, speed, or profitability,” the statement read.

The airline expressed gratitude to the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, for calling for enhanced performance in its domestic services.

It similarly praised the authorities’ endeavors in guaranteeing that airline operators comply with international safety protocols.

However, Air Peace stated that it was crucial to point out that the number of planes they owned exceeded those typically scheduled for everyday flights.

“Hence, all the delays or cancellations we’ve encountered are not at all related to a lack of aircraft.”

For example, on Friday, an aircraft from our fleet encountered a bird strike upon landing in Enugu, resulting in damage to the engine.

“The aircraft was promptly taken out of service and removed from operations following the safety protocols,” the statement continued.

Air Peace stated that the plane was supposed to operate several routes, emphasizing that its absence has caused a chain reaction affecting flights across those destinations.

The Daily Post indicates that on Friday, the NCAA conducted a discussion with the airline’s leadership regarding the flight capacity.
