Wichita Native Killed in Flight 5342 Remembered with Honor

Wichita, Kan. (KSNW) — A neighborhood in Wichita keeps the memory alive of one of their own.

In Wichita on Thursday evening. Among the seven victims is Kiah Duggins, a native of Wichita, who was killed.

The nonprofit honored Kiah’s legacy and the ongoing positive impact she makes in Wichita.

Kiah’s father, Maurice Duggins, states that this acknowledgment is a significant honor for her.

“What I share with others is this: One of my consolations, something that brings me comfort in reflection, is gratitude,” Maurice stated.

He mentioned that he felt thankful for having a daughter who motivated people as a civil rights lawyer.

We’re certainly acknowledging her as an up-and-coming leader,” Cindy Miles, who serves as the interim President and CEO of the Urban League of Kansas, stated. “She has always been dedicated to assisting individuals surmount obstacles, and her background as a civil rights lawyer is significant since the core principles of organizations like the Urban Leagues stem from advocating for civil rights.

Kiah collaborated with the Civil Rights Corps as well as various community action organizations.

“Kiah had a distinct nature about her because even though everyone has 24 hours in their day, she managed to accomplish far more during hers compared to what most people typically achieve,” Maurice commented.

Her participation in Wichita involved assisting with resolving the
Contamination at 29th and Grove.

“We aim to set her up as a model for others to follow, demonstrating that when we provide support, we can genuinely assist individuals in overcoming obstacles and achieving their full potential,” Miles stated.

Kiah, departed prematurely yet continues to inspire the upcoming generation.

“There were numerous individuals who emailed her repeatedly, seeking guidance on the steps required for them to pursue their careers as attorneys,” Maurice stated.

When the Duggins family feels prepared, they plan to carry on Kiah’s legacy through mentoring others.
