Mayor Daniel Lurie announced on Friday, May 2, that the event will return for a second year as part of an initiative to rejuvenate the city’s downtown area with free public events and cultural programs.

Working alongside Another Planet Entertainment, the organization responsible for the yearly Outside Lands event in Golden Gate Park, and the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department, the 2025 series will commence on June 14 at Embarcadero Plaza with the second annual Back 2 Baysics concert, showcasing San Francisco’s electronic music label.

The event comes after a successful 2024 season that attracted tens of thousands to Union Square, Civic Center Plaza, and Embarcadero Plaza.

Last year’s performances attracted thousands of visitors to our downtown area, and we’re capitalizing on that enthusiasm,” stated Mayor Lurie. “Our artistic and cultural offerings are key drivers in San Francisco’s resurgence, and this event beautifully illustrates that vitality.

As part of a triennial pact with Another Planet Entertainment, this concert series will be accompanied by an additional two to three paid shows at the Polo Field during the weekend immediately after the conclusion of the Outside Lands Festival.

“Last year was such an incredible cross-section of the San Francisco community,” Bryan Duquette, a member of Another Planet Entertainment’s core executive team, said in a statement. “San Francisco feels alive right now!”

This agreement bolsters urban green spaces and attracts substantial pedestrian activity to the central business district—data from the municipal offices indicate that the previous year’s Embarcadero performance almost tripled visitor numbers compared to an average Sunday.

The complete schedule of events will be revealed at a future time.

Such events make us realize that our public areas are meant for all,” stated Phil Ginsburg, who leads the Recreation and Park Department. “The bustling downtown plazas serve as lively spots where individuals can come together to dance, socialize, and share in the enchantment of live musical performances.
