Later in May, he will give talks and autograph copies of his new book titled “Remember Us: American Sacrifice, Dutch Freedom, and A Forever PromiseForged in World War II.”

His latest work spans six years through the tales of twelve individuals, highlighting the harsh cost of liberty. This narrative incorporates previously unseen correspondence, journals, and archival documents.

“They include combat soldiers, paratroopers, black tankers, and even a graves registration worker. This last role opens up another narrative we’ve never explored before—what occurs to a soldier after they’re fatally wounded on the battlefield? It doesn’t happen through some mystical process; instead, we trace these tales and weave them into one cohesive account,” explained Edsel.

Edsel aims to shed light on a distinctive initiative aimed at bringing together American families with caretakers in the Netherlands. These Dutch individuals have been looking after the graves of American servicemen for decades as a gesture of gratitude for their role in liberating the Netherlands during World War II.
