GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – The university’s latest addition as a Maverick has been unveiled… and he appears quite boisterous.
At the start of the academic year, the CMU Rowdy Wranglers were assigned four calves for initial training. Throughout the year, they honed their skills by working closely with these young animals, teaching them how to walk smoothly when led with a halter. These calves participated actively in various events across campus, traveling along as necessary.
The Wranglers initiated a poll for all CMU students to choose which calf would serve as the new live mascot. The outcomes were disclosed on Thursday, and the introduction of the newest Rowdy to the community took place shortly after.
The latest addition to the herd is a mix of Longhorn and Angus breeds. This bull is anticipated to develop exceptionally long horns. Additionally, the mascot role will involve several new duties.
So Rowdy will be making appearances at the football games when autumn rolls around,” said Colby Malpass, the President of the Rowdy Wranglers. “He’ll attend various events across campus and join in the parades, just as his predecessor did.
Malpass mentioned that the former Roughrider is relishing his time in retirement. At present, he is grazing freely in a pasture.
